Website Color Tips And Tricks: Discover the codes to get hundreds of colors for your website.
We have all been on web sites that had horrible color combinations. Like black letters on a dark red background. Here's a color chart with HEX codes. You are not limited to the 16 colors you can call by name. Here's a 100 or so more.
There's more than one way to set color on your web pages. Both of these methods will result in the foreground color, or lettering, being set to black:
<FONT COLOR="BLACK"> and <FONT COLOR="#FFFFFF">
Both of these methods will result in the foreground color, or lettering, being set to blue:
<FONT COLOR="BLUE"> and <FONT COLOR="#0000FF">
In the first example of each color we use the name of the color. In the second example of each color, we use the HEX code of the color. There is only about 10
or 15 "named" colors that are safe to use with any browser. There are over 200 colors in "HEX" format that are safe.
The chart below shows the colors, and the HEX code needed to produce each color. These colors are the "browser-safe" colors. That is, they should show up as the same color on all browsers & on all platforms.
